While I was still living in London, I was asked to join the stop motion production of Pinocchio. That production would be directed by Guillermo del Toro and would be filming back in the States in Portland Oregon. I love London and the thought of leaving was very hard. But sometimes life makes the decisions for you. After Isle of Dogs had wrapped up I went on the job search to stay in London full time. This plan was working out well. I was hired on at ILM London to do some animation for Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom, I still haven’t seen this film. Then I was hired on to Framestore to work on Christopher Robin. I was on a good roll but then some of the productions where delayed and I was laid off. By the time I was called back into work by Framestore, my visa had expired and I was forced to leave the UK. If that scenario didn’t happen and I was happily working in London, I would have had to make the decision to leave London by myself, which would have been a very difficult decision but the answer would have been obvious.. Of course I would have said, “Yes”. Pinocchio was one of those rumor projects that was floating around for years. The team up of Guillermo del Toro and this wooden boy was a wonderful nightmare that would finally tell the true story.
